More about me ...

What was your first cool haircut? In the summer of Grade 8, I went from my already cool angled bob to a short pixie cut. I felt regret while it was happening but fabulous at the end!

What's the secret to feeling beautiful? There’s absolutely nothing better than fresh hair, but beauty needs to start from inside.

What is your secret talent? I was once called ‘the Houdini of hair’! Whether it’s colour or cut, my secret talent is fixing hair so that it requires less maintenance and looks beautiful.

What do you love most about being a hairstylist? Sharing what I know and learning from my clients warms my heart. I love creating the perfect look while hearing all their interesting stories and life advice. Plus, I get to work around so many talented stylists. Every day is a new day!

Bob or paige? Both!!!

What is your most treasured hair product? This is a tough one, but I would have to say Goldwell Colorance. Most know this as a toner for colored hair, but it’s so much more. It’s something I use after every color-to-color balance or just to make the hair feel smooth and look shiny.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what would you want to have with you? A group of my favourite friends with music, yoga mats, beautiful sunsets, and maybe some tequila!

Frank Calandrino - Master stylist

Since co-founding Bob + Paige salon, Frank has built a following of devoted clients who describe him as ‘innovative’ and ‘low-key but focused’. From teens to septuagenarians, Frank believes that everyone deserves a hairstyle that’s current, manageable, and makes them feel fantastic. Frank was the lead stylist on Entertainment Tonight Canada and his work has appeared on red carpets and runways including the Oscars, Toronto Fashion Week, and the Toronto International Film Festival.

More about me ...

What was your first cool haircut? I really love all the indie-punk shaggy haircuts of the mid 2000s. Once I had my short and choppy ‘rat-chewed’ bangs, I felt instantly cooler. They were coloured a vibrant raspberry pink.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A hairstylist! I had a lot of positive encouragement from my family and friends. It was destiny.

What or who makes you laugh the hardest? Paul Rudd!

What makes you feel hopeful? The fact that young people have an effective platform like social media which can be used for so many amazing things. It has the ability to foster safe and helpful communities for people who wouldn't otherwise have that. It has its flaws, but people have been able to connect so much with each other this way and I feel that outweighs its faults.

What is your favourite hair colour? I really love loud colour blended with natural tones. My favourite colours tend to be the ones I do the least often: red, hot pink, and orange. If someone has an idea to throw some wild colour in their hair, I will be the one to encourage it!

What's the secret to feeling beautiful? Confidence is key! I get away with presenting myself in such an eccentric way because I love the way I feel, and it doesn't matter what other people think. Taking care of yourself is so important, whether it be physical exercise and healthy eating, or simply just vegging. I think beauty is doing something because YOU want to.

If I weren't so darn good doing hair, I'd probably be... a massage therapist. I love making people feel good.

The best thing about being a hairstylist is... interacting with a large variety of people and making them feel amazing. Whether it’s making someone feel beautiful with their regular cut and style, or encouraging a major colour transformation, my close interactions with clients are so personal and rewarding. I also love the art form. You can create so much with hair!

Finish this sentence: On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me...enjoying coffee and snacks and hanging out in Lounge-town (aka my apartment!).

Bob or Paige? Paige.

What are you happiest doing when you’re not working? Crafts, needlework, outside activities, cooking and baking, watching movies or comfort shows.

What is your most treasured possession? My closet. There's so much self-expression and identity linked to me there.

What is your most treasured hair product? KMS Molding Paste. I love its versatility and it's the perfect product for curls, loose, sleek, or that second-day hair look.
